I recently saw a presentation on vitamin D and it was very interesting! Apparently Vitamin D has a whole host of benefits and probably 85% of the population is deficient in it. Particularly those in the notherly states.
Vitamin D can help stave off cancer, boost your metabolism, help you sleep better at night and give you more energy during the day, help stabilize your mood, and lots more. I have been in a funk lately and thought I might try to take some Vit D for the mood enhancing benefit.
Started yesterday and alreay I have TONS more energy! I was so productive yesterday I completed everything on my to do list, and then some! I woke up very refreshed (could have to do with the time change though).
God the energy that I have is amazing. I feel like I'm on speed. (Not that I know what that is like).
And I'm in a good mood! Everyone, take your Vitamin D! At least 1000 IU of it! We need to tell Zulie aboutt his for her winter sadness.

Placebo effect?
Vitamin B complex gives me energy and eating just a few nutmeats, pecans, every day will improve my mood dramatically. But I just don't do it and should.

I think placebo.
A co-worker recently told me everything in post 1 so I got some. It's been a couple of months and I see no difference. I still take it daily because I figure it can't hurt. But I haven't noticed any changes.

I think the energy claims are over rated. Everything seems to boost energy. I take a lot of vitamins and minerals. Have to as I have problems absorbing manyof them. I also run a lot and need them. THe Vitamin D is VERY important for absorbtion of Calcium in particular and according to one researcher for every skin cancer death that has been prevented (by people using sun block and staying out of the sun with results in less vitamin D in the body) there has been 10 deaths due to cancer from insufficient vitamin D. That is a net increase of 9 deaths. Take the vitamin D! Especially in the winter and if you have darker skin. Take at least 2 or 3 grams daily.

Blue, maybe you don't feel the energy effects because you live in a more southern/sunny state and therefore were not deficient in vitamin D. So the extra boost of you taking it didn't really change things. But since I live so far north, I'm sure I was deficient, so I felt the effect of it more.
All I know is, when I take Vit D in the morning, I HAVE to drink decaf. Otherwise I get major coffee jitters from just one cup of weak coffee. And I don't get that when I don't take the Vit D.
Pat, why do you tell me that the extra energy is the placebo effect when I take Vitamin D , but that when you take Vitamin B it gives you energy? It's placebo for me, but this other vitamin works for you. You trip me out sometimes.

I was deficient in D. Trust me, I am never in the sun. I am very pale for living in Arizona and get my tans from a bottle.
Maybe you're just more sensitive. I always trip at people who say they get things like coffee jitters. I can drink a cup and go straight to bed. Espresso, no difference. If coffee makes you jittery, I guess you can feel Vitamin D.

I would be less apt to think it was a placebo effect if it wasn't for the almost instant difference. I don't believe a taking a vitamin supplement would work so quickly.
